The massive mountain of Huayna Potosi, near La Paz in Bolivia, is technically not a difficult mountain to climb. However, you’ll still need to contend with some major altitude effects, freezing temperatures, and mountain guides who speak less English than you speak Spanish (i.e. none). Still, what a fucking adventure it is.
Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror & think “goddammit, I am pathetic”? Of course you do you worthless sack of shit, and it’s not at all surprising cos you know what? You are pathetic, and it sickens me. You know what you need to do to prove yourself? You need to climb a big-ass mountain. And yeah yeah I hear you saying “but I’m not a mountain climber, I don’t know how to use an ice axe & I don’t know a crampon from a tampon”. Well don’t worry you little bitch, cos just a short ride from La Paz in Bolivia is Huayna Potosi, a mountain which is not only a legit 6,000 metres plus in height, but you can walk right on up it with minimal mountain-climbing prowess.
The mountain in question, Huyana Potosi, is just over 6,000 metres in height, and just below 20,000 feet. Still, feel free to round it up to 20,000 if it makes you feel like more of a bad-ass. If you know what you’re doing there is nothing stopping you from climbing the mountain independently, however if like me you have no fucking idea what you’re doing then there are loads of outfits in La Paz who will set the trip up for you & provide guides & accommodation at mountain refuges.
